At the end of our stay in Midland, Anna and I were supposed to hop back on a flight to Dallas on Thursday but instead opted to drive for 6 hours with Mutti, my mom and Jim to New Braunfels to my niece's birthday party. The original plan was for Anna and me to fly back Thursday and then Keith would drive all of us to the party on Saturday since he had a work team building event at Top Golf (aka drinking beer and playing golf on the company dime) and then a fantasy football draft that Friday night. I thought that since we wouldn't see Keith until Saturday anyway, that the girls would just embark upon a really long road trip and let the fun begin...
Can you find Anna amongst ALL of our stuff?! 70% of it is hers...
With Anna's Sip & See party, we got a lot of new goodies so we packed those up along with probably too much luggage and headed off to New Braunfels. This would be Anna's first road trip and hopefully she'll get used to them as it seems like we're on the road constantly!
Thankfully we left Midland and she was sound asleep.
The FOUR generations: Mutti, Gretchen, Elysse & Anna
During Anna's party at Mutti's house, she had found a photo of the four generations before her and her mother (GaGa was the youngest in the photo of the four generations). The Miller/Hanson women have a long life expectancy so it is a wonderful tradition to carry on to have another generational photo. We need to take a more formal picture where you can actually see all of our faces and not so much "stuff" in the background.
Who's head looks more uncomfortable? Mutti and Anna were sound asleep before we even got on the highway. We have figured out that by putting multiple towels under Anna's car seat helps elevate the foot of her car seat so she no longer sleeps with her head on her chest. Maybe this is why she has such strong neck muscles because she's had to work to hold her head up for 2 months. Oops!
We made it all the way to Junction, TX before stopping for dinner and my mom and Jim absolutely love Lum's BBQ. It is a quaint little BBQ place but absolutely amazing and worth the trip. Here are some pictures of all of us enjoying dinner with Anna at Lum's.
Anna did really, really well on during the entire road trip until we got to New Braunfels. She then proceed to scream and cry for an ENTIRE HOUR! For those of you who think she never cries, you are sadly mistaken!! My iphone had died about 30 minutes before getting to town and with an outdated Garmin and Jim's Droid phone having a terrible GPS, we couldn't find our hotel for over an hour. Seriously, the town of New Braunfels is relatively small but we were having the worst time finding the Courtyard Marriott. Finally as we were almost to Austin and realized for the umpteenth time that we were going the wrong way, Jim called the hotel and asked for directions. We were 15 miles the wrong direction so by the time we finally found our hotel is was almost 11:00 pm. Mutti, Anna and I all shared the same hotel room on Friday night and after setting up Anna's pack and play and feeding her, she fell soundly asleep for the entire night. Whew!

THis is great... I so remember all the stuff that it took to bring Pierce to Dallas... wow wee... and I will never forget a time when we left Dallas, just Pierce and I and headed back to Houston... Pierce slept the entire way until we got to Conroe and then we hit traffic... so he was wide awake and screaming his head off... I never forget how I balled for about 30 minutes... bc there was nothing I could do but drive... I was alone and I could not get to Pierce... and he was screaming bloody murder... terrible memory... glad that one is over...
Great recap of your trip, great pictures and wonderful memories.
