Family time in Midland

The week Anna and I were in Midland, we were able to spend a lot of time with family. My mom had teacher in-service each day but she would come home at lunch and I would drive her back to school so I could have her car for the afternoon and to go out and visit my people.

One afternoon my mom and I left Anna with Mutti for 30 minutes while we ran up to a baby boutique called La BeBe in Midland (quite fancy) and picked up some really cute presents for friends and also for Anna. As we were at the register, I got a frantic call from Mutti...I had left Anna in her car seat since she was sound asleep and figured she would just sleep for the half hour we would be gone. But as luck would have it, she woke up a few minutes early and after giggling and smiling for a little bit, she became really frustrated and wanted out of her car seat immediately. I left her buckled in the car seat and poor Mutti couldn't for the life of her get the straps unbuckled. She was cursing like a sailor at the car seat and was about ready to get a pair of scissors and cut them so she could get Anna out. Luckily I answered my cell phone and told Mutti we would be home in less than 5 minutes. I could hear Anna screaming in the background and I just felt so terrible that Mutti had to endure her screams. I know they were both so sad with the situation. I rushed into the house and unbuckled little Anna, changed her diaper and fed her. My mom and Mutti had a tutorial on how to unfasten the seat belt but poor Mutti has arthritis in her thumbs and fingers so there was no way she would be able to unfasten the car seat. Note to self...always unfasten the car seat when I leave Anna with anyone...this will save everyone from tears and screams!

We had Mutti over for dinner each night and she was able to play with Anna quite a bit and we also visited her during the day so she could love on Anna some more.

Such a happy girl!

I don't know if it was Gizmo being protective of my mom or of Anna, but he was a constant by her side the entire time I was in Midland. Each time I would change Anna's diaper on the floor and go to pick her up, he would growl at me or try to snap at my feet. He has a bad habit of being quite territorial over my mom and I think he now has someone else to protect!

This last picture I used a app on my iphone called Instagram and you can edit photos a dozen different ways. If you have an iphone, I highly recommend this! Thanks to my cousins K.K. and Kathryn, I can now be a little bit more creative with photos.
