Airplane Adventure

My mom and Mutti wanted us to come visit one week during my maternity leave so I took the opportunity to head back home for an entire week with Anna. Luckily Keith was able to take us to the airport on Monday afternoon (August 15) and as he drove us to Love Field, we missed the Southwest drop-off so after circling back around, Keith decided to park in the garage and help me carry all of our stuff to to the ticket counter. I only had a large suitcase and Anna's carrier plus a diaper bag and my purse which seemed like a lot for just a week long trip. The Southwest ticket agent was wonderful and even gave Keith and escort boarding pass so he could not only walk with me through security, but also walk me to our gate and wait for us to take off. I had no idea that airlines would allow people to escort you to gates anymore, so I could not have been any happier when she offered the extra ticket to us. Keith carried Anna through security (probably because I was taking her away from him for an entire week and he wanted to have the last few moments with her before we left.) It was really nice to have Keith with me right up until we boarded the plane. I know this was only an hour flight but I was extremely thankful to have him help me with all the luggage and stuff that comes with traveling with a baby. It's quite the adventure!

To be honest, I didn't sleep at all the night before our flight as I was so nervous that I would be THAT mom on a plane with a hysterical, fussy, crying baby. I had visions of being stressed out the entire flight and not being able to do anything to console Anna. Thankfully, it all turned out perfectly and I lost lots of sleep over nothing.

She slept during takeoff!

The plane ride didn't even so much as bother little Anna as she was asleep for most of the 1 hour flight and then I fed her a bottle as we descended into Midland. Whenever I'm in Midland, I always get my hair cut at the same salon that I've been going to for 15+ years and funny enough, the owner of the salon was sitting right behind me on the flight. There were also some parents of a good high school friend of mine who were on the flight as well. It never fails to see someone I know on a flight to or from Midland - I guess that is what happens when you grow up in a small town!

P.S. This little lamb that you've seen in a lot of pictures is Anna's favorite pacifier. My great friend, Whitney, gave this to us when Anna was born. It's called a wubanub and is simply fantastic. I had gone out to Babies R Us to purchase another one before our Midland trip and got the cutest little frog that was attached to a green pacifier. Sadly, we lost the frog in the Love Field airport. I think I'll have to get a couple more wubanub's soon since Anna loves them so much. My mom's dog Gizmo also loved to play with the lamb and thought it was his own dog toy. Every time I wasn't looking, he managed to run off with it!
