Paper Wreath...so easy!

I found this idea on a blog months ago and thought it looked easy enough that I could tackle. I picked up a Reader's Digest book at Goodwill for $1 and a foam wreath from Michael's for $8. I had a glue gun on hand and all I needed was an evening in front of the TV plus a few hours of my time. You could also purchase a foam wreath from the dollar store but they only had small ones so I opted to spend a few extra dollars for the larger wreath. After you rip out all of the pages from your book (I also didn't use any of the pages that had pictures on them since I wanted all the pages to look the same), you fold each page 3 or 4 times, fold a tab at the bottom of each page, and then glue on the "back" of the wreath. You just need enough to cover the inside and outside so the white foam will not be visible. Once I glued on all the pages to the back, I put some weight onto the wreath to flatten it out a bit.

After multiple hot glue burns and a few blisters, my project is starting to take shape. There happens to be a lot of monotony for this project but I think I was watching something entertaining on TV which helped pass the time.

Keith and Kayli even helped with moral support! Don't they look like they are having fun?
After gluing all the pages onto the wreath, I used the remaining pages to fill in any holes I saw around the wreath. The Reader's Digest book was almost 600 pages and I used every last page. You can obviously use smaller books and a smaller foam wreath and your project time will be cut in half. I promise because I ended up making 2 more wreaths from a Bible of mine, but that is a story for another day. (I have my lovely lab, Kayli, to thank for that project!) My mother-in-law, Janet, wants to learn how to make one of these and I can't wait to show her how easy they are to make!

Ta da...all done!

Can't wait. Maybe one cold wintery day in front of the fire.
